2nd Week of March

Harder to Breathe (Maroon 5)
"I have the tendency of getting very physical"

Monday – Forgotten, and not forgiven:

Fought hard to wake up in the morning. Had my usual session in the lab. Came home rather disappointed because my cells weren't behaving :(

Forgotten (completely) that today was the instalment deadline for (my last ever) tuition fees. Usually I would have had this date highlighted in my diary/organiser months before, but nowadays because I hardly use my planner for anything (given that lectures are over), it didn't occur to me that payment day was TODAY!

Thank God dad texted me about the bank transfer *phew*

Tuesday – On the fence, and then over:
You know, I’m really going through the motions with this project of mine. Right now, I just want to finish it off, write it up, hand it in and then DISAPPEAR!

Had a text from Rehma asking me if I wanted to go watch Arsenal play AC Milan in the evening. Last week, she blasted me through and through for having this on my Facebook status: "Adeline is wondering if she should support Ars or Milan."

Tonight, she’s testing my allegiance, once again.

I tried real hard to recollect the last time I went to watch a footie match live. The fact that I couldn't means it must have been a verrrrrrrrry long time ago. So I went.

Was a good night as Arsenal whacked Milan's butt 2-0, owing to Fab and Adebayor's late goals in the second half. It was nothing short of a well-deserved win. I did feel bad for my Brazilian blue eyed boy though because Kaka and co held up well for 80 mins and then everything just went down hill after Fab's strike. Also, it wasn't a happy ending for the Italian blue-eyed (literally blue-eyed) captain for this was apparently his last season in competitive football...Rest assured Paolo, Christian will continue the Maldini legacy :)

Wednesday - Life’s little bumps along the way:

Lab session as usual. Nothing to report on the research front.

Went to watch Juno with some mates in the evening.

If you had asked me to watch this before the Academy Awards, I would have said "dude, save me 4 pound 20." But the hype really roused my attention.

And you know what? I actually LIKED it. VERY MUCH.

I'm even thinking of buying the DVD when it's out!

The movie appealed to me because of the heart-warming plot (I've always been a sucker for such films). And Juno was charming. I just loved her straight-talking, don't-give-a-damn attitude. And teenage pregnancy isn’t exactly a topic that is easy to story-tell, so kudos to the writers who managed with a lot of humour and subtlety.

Thursday – Free? Nothing’s Free:

My new contract phone arrived today. A Nokia 6500 Slide.

This is the number 1 phone on my list, but unfortunately I couldn’t have it free with the renewal of my contract as my cheapskate call plan doesn’t qualify. So what the customer service agent suggested was that I go for a "customer-returned" phone, which is not brand new, but still functional.

I agreed without thinking twice because that means a) I get THE phone, and b) I don't have to pay the difference (as opposed to wanting it brand spanking new). Little did I know that it came with a clause…

Apparently, a customer returned phone package entitles me to only the phone and the charger. I don't get a user guide, nor do I get the installation CD, phone to USB cable and headset.

I felt a bit cheated because although I could download a virtual phone guide from Nokia's website, I have to fork out money to buy the rest of the accessories. And they're not cheap you know! At the end of the day, it worked out to be roughly the same as paying the difference and getting a new phone. So I've decided to call the deal off and may have to settle for phone number 2...

Friday - TGIF:

Ditto

Saturday – The expected and the unexpected:

Went to town to post my phone back to O2 and came back to find out that our doubles pair have (rather expectedly) lost their All England semi-final encounter against the Koreans. Honestly, is anyone surprised?

I then hung around to watch Chong Wei's "expected to win" match against an opponent he's beaten quite a number of times, rather comfortably too may I add, but he didn't make the cut this time around. Against everyone’s expectations.

Meanwhile, the election results were trickling in slowly on the net. It was exciting news that the opposition garnered an edge in the north. A couple of mates and I kept each other updated on the results over MSN and I must say it was a nice "conference" to be having on a Saturday :)

I was lamenting to one of them that the afternoon was pretty much gone (as far as doing any work is concerned) because it was too difficult to concentrate when our country's political future is being revealed on the other end.

"Yeah Mun, I noe what u mean. Me 2 . Can't focus. OVERJOYED =P"

Eherm.

Later in the evening, I went for a collaborated birthday dinner at Valentino's for 2 coursemates whose big days were a few days apart (hence the joint celebration). Italian food (ie pasta and spaghetti and tagliatelle and tortellini) has never been a fav of mine, so I was the only carnivore who ordered meat. The lamb in honey and mint sauce was YUM!

Sunday - Er...

Woke up at 10 and went to bed at 10.

Every other thing that happened in between was too insignificant to go on the record.

***

So, there you go. A summary of the events and happenings of the week just passed.

Okay, fine.

The truth of the matter is that I’m too guilty to make the title of this post “I didn’t do any work this week”....
